To Guapo Banuelos:
Thank you Guapo for being a light of truth on this campus. If it weren’t for your undying love of Black people, and your dedication to Black lives like my own — I do not think I would have made it these last 3 years at Carleton. I would have dropped out. I would have been another Carleton statistic.
You forced me to love and believe in myself. You gave me pep-talk after pep-talk. You lifted my spirits whenever I was sad about home. You have been a rock to so many of us and I am so proud to know you!
Despite everything you have been through, you always made it a mission to take care of the people around you. For that I am eternally thankful. Thank you for blessing this campus! I hope everyone is able to give you your flowers while you’re here with us. I cannot wait to see what big things you accomplish next!
