To Madeleine Emmons:
This is an upside down year — very challenging times for graduates. We are so proud of all the Carleton graduates. Madsie, we planned to be with you on the 13th. It was hard to get a room. Maybe we would have to stay far from Northfield. We weren’t worried. Who’d a thunk it would be virtual — virtually not there. We know you and Christian have the wherewithal to make it a celebration and begin forging your marks on our society.
We want you to know that we are so proud of you. Your accomplishments have been great. It will be a whole new arena and you will do just fine in what ever direction you choose to go. You have given us so much happiness and joy.
