Did you know the Carleton Career Center is on Instagram? Using the handle @carletoncareercenter, we utilize Instagram to connect with students, provide unique tips and insights on career-related topics, and promote events. We encourage parents and students to follow us and engage with our content.

We have hosted a variety of Alumni Takeovers on Instagram. During these takeovers, alumni log into our account for the day and use the story feature to share their experiences and advice with students. This unique way of connecting alumni with students has yielded impressive engagement among the Carleton community.

Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Career Center has worked to reach students in unique and meaningful ways to support their career development. One of our newer initiatives is hosting Employer Takeovers on Instagram.  This term, we leveraged this unique tool to connect students and potential employers.

We are working with six employers in a variety of industries to pilot this initiative.  The takeovers will highlight their particular organization (including potential internship or full-time openings), providing industry tips for applications and interviews, and more. Employer partners include Epic, Dennos Museum, and the Peace Corps, to name a few. So far, we have seen students engage with employers on this platform in very meaningful ways, including asking questions and sharing their contact information to connect further.

If you are interested in learning more, just follow us! We have additional takeovers lined up for this term and you can catch them on Instagram on Wednesdays between now and March 3.
