There are many ways to connect with Carleton students through recruiting activities supported by the Career Center:

Instagram Takeover

Feature a day-in-the-life at your organization on our Career Center Instagram account that has high student engagement.

Job Description Review

Have your job description reviewed by the Program Director for Employer Relations to ensure it provides the information most important to Carleton students.

Application Collection

Share your job or internship with our students by posting it on Handshake. You can also configure your posting on Handshake to collect applications.

Interview Scheduling

Once you have selected the candidates you wish to interview, we can coordinate a virtual or on-campus interview schedule for you.

Information Session (On-Campus or Virtual)

Begin building relationships with prospective student applicants while sharing more information about your organization and opportunities. Information sessions typically last 30-60 minutes, and we will take care of logistics and promotion.

Tabling (On-Campus)

Connect with students at your own table in our main student center, Sayles-Hill Campus Center. This is a great way to have a visible presence with a wide Carleton audience and in a more informal setting. We facilitate scheduling and promotion.

1:1 Meetings (On-Campus or Virtual)

Meet with students one-on-one in the Career Center or via Zoom to get to know them individually and answer their specific questions about your organization and position(s).

Mock Interviews (On-Campus or Virtual)

Meet with students one-on-one in the Career Center or via Zoom to simulate an interview experience with your organization. Build relationships with students early in their career journeys by helping them develop skills, and get an inside glimpse at early-career talent.

Skills-Based Workshops (On-Campus or Virtual)

Sharing your industry knowledge and recruiting wisdom is a great way to begin building relationships with students early in the recruiting cycle. Consider teaching students a job search or industry skill. Example topics include case interviewing, technical interviewing, overview of a specific career, industry-specific job search tips, among others — we are happy to brainstorm with you!

Site Visits (In-Person at Your Organization)

Would a visit to your organization provide an important glimpse into your organization’s culture, amenities, day-to-day work life? Would it make it easier for students to meet and hear from many employees and leaders in your organization? Let’s chat about bringing a group of our students to visit on-site!

Publicity

To promote your opportunity and/or event with our students, contact us with the details and we will distribute it along our channels to students who may be a good match.

Scheduling

Ideal dates & times

To find the best days for any of these activities, see Carleton’s 2022-2023 recruiting calendar for dates that do not overlap with academic holidays.

The best times are often Tuesday/Thursday “Common Hour” (noon–1 p.m. Central) or after 5 p.m.
