Carleton College is partnering with Colorado College to promote its Social Action Institute. This opportunity is offered to up to students interested in engaging in activist and/or advocacy-focused work focused on one of two tracks:
- Community Organizing to Support Labor, Tenant/Housing, and Immigrant Rights (campaign recruitment, event planning, op-ed writing, policy research, public speaking, criminal justice accountability, case advocacy).
- Environmental Justice Organizing (community organizing, advocacy campaigns, research).
- Immigrant Detention Work and Movement Lawyering (working with attorneys representing immigrants in detention; research on immigrant detention center conditions; researching country conditions for legal cases).
Students will engage in work that aims to confront escalating surveillance and criminalization of BIPOC communities by collaborating directly with community-based organizations in the US Southwest.
