This two-part workshop will introduce you to grant writing for nonprofit organizations.

Grant writing is a skill valued by many nonprofit employers. This two-part workshop will introduce you to the grant writing process and build skills that will help you succeed in applying for jobs and internships. Christopher Tassava, Ph.D., Director of the Grants Office at Carleton, has more than 15 years of experience writing grants in the nonprofit sector.

Session 1: Tuesday, April 5th | Noon - 1:00pm @ LDC 104

  • Introduction to grant seeking for nonprofits
  • Researching and understanding grant programs
  • Drafting a proposal narrative

Session 2: Tuesday, April 12th | Noon - 1:00pm @ LDC 104

  • Developing a grant budget
  • Crafting a project timeline
  • Managing grant projects

Apply through Handshake by Sunday, April 3 at 11:59pm by uploading your résumé AND a statement (200 words maximum) describing why you are interested in the workshop, what you hope to learn, and any prior experience you have with grants.  Participants are required to attend both sessions.  Lunch will be served at both sessions. (If you have any dietary needs, please include them in the brief “other document” statement.)
