Government and Nonprofit Fair

The Government & Nonprofit Career Fair allows candidates to pursue professional opportunities and internships in all levels of government and nonprofit agencies. The average participation is about 100 organizations. The job fair is open only to students and alumni from participating colleges and universities, including Carleton College.

  2. Filter and search for agencies by various categories such as Job Types, Majors, Industry, etc.

Optional Sessions:

  • WORLD CAFÉ featuring government agencies | Students and Alumni: Join us for an introduction to Public Sector Careers
    Time:
    11 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    Register:
    No pre-registration required.  The session will be hosted in the Mississippi Room, Coffman Memorial Union, UMN
    Meet with recruiters and hiring supervisors from government agencies across the metro. This interactive event will kick off with crash course on careers in the public sector, followed by one-on-one and small group discussions with recruiters and department hiring supervisors who are eager to meet students and Alumni. You will learn tips for applying, how to find unique roles that meet your career goals, and the benefits of public sector work. Join us.
  • KEYNOTE SPEAKER featuring the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency)
    Time:
    12:30-1:30 p.m.
    Register: No pre-registration required.  The session will be hosted in the Mississippi Room, Coffman Memorial Union, UMN
  • Introduction to the Humphrey School + Applying to Grad School 101
    Time: 12:30-2:00 p.m. located in room 323.
    Come learn about the graduate programs offered at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs (ranked in the Top 10 nationally) and get tips and tricks on applying to graduate school from the Humphrey's Director of Admissions.

How to prepare to get the most out of the event:

  • Review the participating employer information prior to the event and do some initial research on each company before attending.
  • Give some thought to questions that you plan to ask the employers.
  • Create and practice a 30-second elevator pitch to introduce yourself to the employers.
  • Update your LinkedIn profile and résumé, and bring copies of your résumé with you.
  • Take notes and follow-up with the employers on any questions afterward.
