Breakthrough Minneapolis at Blake Logo

Breakthrough Minneapolis at Blake, is a chapter within Breakthrough Collaborative which comprises 25 sites across the country. Its overall mission is to launch high potential middle school students on the path to college, while also inspiring talented high school and college students to pursue careers in education.

At Breakthrough Minneapolis, they achieve this mission by using a “students-teaching-students” model. During the 9 weeks of summer programming, 20 talented high school and college students work as teachers, advisors, and mentors for 80 middle school students from Minneapolis Public Schools.

Breakthrough teachers are creative, diverse, intelligent, and motivated. They represent many academic and personal backgrounds, but share a commitment to students and closing the opportunity gap. They are in the process of recruiting college students for their summer 2024 fellowships and would love for you to apply!

Stop by the tables at Sayles and talk with Lauren Melzer, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Lauren recruits, hires, and trains the fellows.
