Carleton College is partnering with Colorado College to promote its Social Action Institute. This opportunity is offered to up to five Carleton students to engage in activist and/or advocacy-focused work focused on one of two tracks:
  • Immigrant Detention Work (working with attorneys representing immigrants in detention centers/some work on advocacy campaigns tied to detention); or
  • Community Organizing (campaign recruitment, event planning, op-ed writing, protest training, policy research, public speaking, criminal justice accountability, case advocacy).
Students will engage in work that aims to confront escalating surveillance and criminalization of BIPOC communities by collaborating directly with community-based organizations in the US Southwest.
Join Eric Popkin, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology and Director of Colorado College Activism Institute, and last year's intern, Nora Kushner ’26, Political Science/International Relations major as they talk more about the program, their experience, and the application process.
Lunch will be provided.
