Cat Reed (She/Her) ’25
Cat is a Biology major and Archaeology minor. She is working in the CARCAS lab, taking care of the beetles, and prepping all animal specimens. She also worked with Sarah Kennedy over the past summer (2023) as a part of the Digging Up Dinner project.

Dina is a Chemistry major. She is currently working on skeletal prep and 3D scanning.

Sam Wege (He/Him) ’22
Sam is a Classics major and Archaeology minor, interested in a career in teaching. In the CARCAS Lab, he helped with bone identification, collection management, and media management, including work on the website and collection’s database. Sam also worked for Carleton’s archaeology department as a research assistant and TA, and is a member of the Small Cycladic Islands Project, a survey archaeology project in Greece.
MJ Fielder-Jellsey (She/Her) ’22
MJ is a senior Classics major and Archaeology minor. She is pursuing a career in archaeology and is especially interested in CRM work. For the CARCAS Lab, MJ worked with bone identification and collection management. In addition to her work in the lab, MJ works on a survey archaeology project in Greece (the Small Cycladic Islands Project) and as a research assistant and TA for Carleton’s archaeology department.
Avery Blumenthal (He/Him) ’23
Avery is a junior Environmental Studies major. He is interested in pursuing a career in wildlife conservation and finds the CARCAS Lab is a great way to learn about animal anatomy while helping catalog and manage Carleton’s animal bone collection. Avery was also in charge of 3D scanning the specimens and producing 3D models at Carleton’s Maker Space.
Mathew Zappa (He/Him) ’22
Matthew is a class of ’22 Biology major, and is particularly interested in ecology and natural history. His main role in the CARCAS lab was maintaining the dermestid beetle colony, including feeding and monitoring development, as well as preparing specimens.
Xingyi Zhang (She/Her) ’24
Xingyi is a Digital Humanities Associate in addition to her work in the lab, where she worked on processing 3D scans, managing the Carleton 3D model server, and uploading all of the scans to the website.
Miyuki Mihira (She/Her) ’22
Miyuki is a History major & Philosophy minor and, in addition to her work for the CARCAS lab, works as a History Departmental Assistant and Digital Humanities Associate. For CARCAS, Miyuki worked on processing 3D scans, managing the Carleton 3D model server, and uploading all of the scans to the website.
Abdullah Ansar ’25
For CARCAS, Abdullah worked on processing 3D scans, managing the Carleton 3D model server, and uploading all of the scans to the website. Additionally, he works as a Digital Humanities Associate.
Isabel Rameker (She/Her) ’24
Isabel is a Digital Humanities Associate and for CARCAS she processed 3D scans, manages the Carleton 3D model server, and uploads all of the scans to the website.
Hali’a Buchal (She/Her) ’25
For CARCAS, Hali’a worked on skeletal prep and beetle care. She is interested in Geology and Archaeology.
Ben Mazor (He/Him) ’25
Ben is a pre-med, Biology major and biochemistry minor. He is interested in animal anatomy and bone identification. He volunteered at the CARCAS Lab doing skeleton prep, beetle care, and specimen cataloging.

Henry is a pre-med, History major and biochemistry minor. He is interested in learning more about animal anatomy and skeleton prep. He worked for the CARCAS lab doing specimen prep, bone identification and beetle care.
Erin Watson (She/Her) ’24
Erin is a Mathematics major who helped manage CARCAS’ 3D model server and worked on our smartphone interface. She transitioned the backend on the server so that CARCAS can scale up with lots of new models, and so that the backend work can be easily shared on Github.
Ezra Kucur (She/Her) ’25
Ezra is a Biology major & both an Archaeology minor and Neuroscience minor who worked for the Archaeology Program, helping curate the archaeology website, as well as working in the CARCAS Lab. She worked on independent research with Sarah Kennedy and her collaborators at George Washington University. She also worked on the Puno Archaeology Project in Peru with Sarah Kennedy summer 2022 and the Digging Up Dinner project summer of 2023.
Claire Boyle (She/Her) ’25
Claire is a Geology major and both a Archaeology and Spanish minor. She also worked on the Puno Archaeology Project in Peru with Sarah Kennedy. She volunteers at the CARCAS lab doing skeleton prep.

Samantha is a Classic major & both a Mathematics and Music Performance minor. Samantha works on collection curation in the CARCAS lab and the larger Archaeology Program.
