It depends.

First, you don’t have to subscribe to Netflix in order to watch movies assigned in CAMS Spring 2020 classes. But Netflix is willing to publish some figures, which is useful because movies on other streaming platforms are likely similar. Most platforms use adaptive streaming, which means their player detects your bandwidth and serves a stream optimized for it.

-standard definition: c. 2 mbps (megabits per second)
Three further settings:
-save data: c. 400 kbps (kilobits per second)
-automatic: 600 kbps or more
-max data: 7 mbps or more
