Taos Devil Dance, 1935
Etching and aquatint
Carleton College
By 1939 Gene Kloss, born Alice Geneva Glasier, had been working and living
in Taos, New Mexico for over a decade. The artist explored many different
media to communicate the inspirational beauty and freedom found in Taos.
Etching became her medium of choice, for in monochrome the artist could
convey the drama and romance of the Southwestern desert.
