Haley Grable ’20 spent her summer working at the Lakota Language Immersion Childcare at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Grable assisted in developing educational materials in Lakotan for the preschool children, helping to teach a new generation of fluent speakers.

Carleton College announces the launch of Every Carl for Carleton, a $400 million comprehensive campaign — the most ambitious in Carleton’s history. The campaign inspired a $50 million commitment, the largest ever received by the College.

Financing a college education has always been a challenge. Paul Thiboutot, vice president and dean of admissions and financial aid, knows this firsthand. He was a first-generation college student at Boston College and later helped pay his daughter’s way through Carleton. Neither of their degrees would have been possible without financial aid.

Juggling a stressful first year at Carleton, a work-study job, a part-time job, and the home business she and her mother run was wearing on Danny Campos Gonzalez ’20. She’d often return to her dorm room around 10:30 p.m. exhausted from the long day. Her floor mates suggested she not work quite so much.

Carleton’s new science complex will invite everyone in, putting research front and center.

It’s a testament to Carleton’s liberal arts mission that two of the most generous alumni donors to science education are an English major and a history major.

A new music and performance addition will unite music with theater, dance, and cinema and media studies at the Weitz Center for Creativity

A gift of $20 million from Barbara ’70 and Wally ’70 Weitz and family—including children Katie ’96, Roger ’99 and his wife Kate, and Drew ’02 and his wife Meredith ‘02— will make possible a music performance commons addition to the Weitz Center for Creativity. Public groundbreaking for the new facility is Friday, May 13.
