Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: Legacies of Soviet Development in Post-Soviet Central Asia

Our distinguished lecturer, Dr. Artemy Kalinovsky is a Professor of Integrative Knowledge in History and Political Science at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Kalinovsky’s recent book, Laboratory of Socialist Development: Cold War Politics and Decolonization in Soviet Tajikistan, won the Davis and Hewett prizes from the Association of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies. He has had op-eds and essays on contemporary affairs published in Foreign Affairs, the Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and the New York Times.
