Chuck Collins: “How Do We Reverse Inequality in America?”
Chuck Collins is co-founder of Wealth for Common Good, a network of business leaders, high-income households and partners working together to promote shared prosperity and fair taxation. Despite being born into the 1%, he has devoted his life to wealth distribution reform. The author of several books on the wealth divide, he co-authored Wealth and Our Commonwealth with Bill Gates Sr., a case for taxing inherited fortunes, and co-authored The Moral Measure of the Economy with Mary Wright, a book about ethics and economic life.
Collins currently serves as director of the Program on Inequality and the Common Good at the Institute for Policy Studies, focusing on the dangers that income disparities pose for the U.S. This program encourages policy interventions that can reduce extreme wealth inequality and close the growing gap between the rich and poor, through research and reporting on topics such as the estate tax, the racial wealth gap, inequality in philanthropy, and others. The central theme of the program is that without significant reform and a systemic view of inequality on both a national and global level, the overall wealth divide will continue to grow exponentially.
