You are invited to the Philosophy Department  Emerging Scholars Talk, Spatiality, Sociality, and Subjectivity in María Lugones’ Pilgrimages/ Peregrinajes by Cynthia Marrero-Ramos.

Cynthia Marrero-Ramos is a current Ph.D candidate at Penn State University who is pursuing a dual title in Philosophy as well as Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her research figures at the intersections of feminist philosophy, critical philosophy of race, and social/political philosophy. Cindy’s talk “Spatiality, Sociality, and Subjectivity in María Lugones’ Pilgrimages/Peregrinajes,” explores how Lugones navigates concepts like space, social life, and the building of political/social identity--as she develops a multi-faceted, philosophical reflection on her years within grass-roots political work. Drawing on the work of critical Marxist geographers like Henri Lefebvre, Lugones outlines the political implications of conceptions of space that preserve dominant logics of social homogeneity, historical univocity, and self-determination.
