Cloth Doll Healing by Phyllis Chatham
On Friday, Dr. Zenzele Isoke will be hosting guest speaker and North Minneapolis resident Phyllis Chatham for an artist talk and workshop. Phyllis specializes in cloth doll healing and will discuss how she uses the form of the black doll to work through issues of black female embodiment, sexual trauma, and healing through the archetype of the black mermaid "Mamawata." She will also supply materials for students, faculty, and staff to create their own cloth dolls in a process designed to heal the trauma of racialized gender violence for people of color.
If you are interested in attending this amazing workshop, please RSVP here beforehand. We hope to see you there!
