Early African Americans in SE MN with Mica Anders

Mon, February 13, 2023 • 4:30pm - 6:00pm (1h 30m) • Gould Library Athenaeum

Join OIL as we explore our Black History Month theme, Space, Place and Belonging, with an art exhibit and public talk on February 13, co-sponsored by Africana Studies.

On exhibit in Gould Library is "Early African Americans in Southeast Minnesota" a genealogical research and visual art project elevating the stories of Black communities in the 11 counties of SE MN in the late 1800s. The project was developed by Mica L. Anders, a St. Paul-based artist, oral historian and professional genealogist during her residency as History Fellow at the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery.

Ms. Anders will give a public talk in the Gould Library Athenaeum on February 13 at 4:30 PM.
