Chemistry Department Seminar: Erick Leggans (Grinnell)

Associate Professor and Biological Chemistry chair, Grinnell College
"There and Back Again: A Journey of a Chemist in Natural Product Drug Design and Syntheses"
Natural products are a group of chemical compounds produced in nature by living organisms that exhibit a high degree of functional and structural diversity. Natural products have a wide range of clinical uses as a result of their biological properties. Due to their structural complexity and biological importance, there has been great interest in their synthetic development. Our research emphasis is placed upon synthetic development of natural products. Additionally, our group has a keen interest in studying the effect that selective structural modification has on their biological properties.
