with Broderick Dressen '09

Thursday, June 12, 2025
10 a.m. Central Time
via Zoom

Broderick Dressen '09 is an enrolled member of the Iñupiat Eskimo people of Utqiagvik, Alaska. He has spent over 15 years working across various agencies in pursuit of bettering the lives and opportunities for Indigenous peoples in America. This has included working in Washington, DC for the Native American Contractors Association, the National Council of Urban Indian Health, and The George Washington University’s Center for Indigenous Politics and Policy. Prior to working on the Hill, he spent five years at MIGIZI, a nonprofit in Minneapolis that works to close achievement gaps for Native youth through a variety of engagement opportunities. He is continuing his work through presenting professional development opportunities and sitting on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Indian Education Association.

This discussion will revolve around the melding of Broderick's experiences in politics, culture, and education and the navigating of those experiences as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

2SLGBTQIA+ (Two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual, the plus acknowledges other gender identities and sexual orientations not explicitly named in the acronym).
