Facilitators: Melissa Eblen-Zayas, Professor of Physics and Patrick Gordon, Director of Health Promotion

During the Winter Conference, Sarah Rose Cavanagh will present her book, Mind Over Monsters, which explores the notion of utilizing “compassionate challenge” in working with students.  This workshop will explore the specific ways in which compassionate challenge can be utilized in a variety of roles (academic advisor, comps advisor, faculty teaching an A&I, faculty mentoring students in research, work supervisor, staff advisor, staff working with students in co-curricular contexts) to support students.  By the end of the session, participants will have identified at least one way that they can apply the concept of compassionate challenge within their role.
