Generative AI and Digital Pedagogy Workshop

Thu, February 6, 2025 • 12:00pm - 1:00pm (1h) • Weitz 235
Headshot of Anastasia Salter
The ease of use and cohesive output of generative AI tools, particularly the now-ubiquitous chat interfaces such as ChatGPT and Claude, has brought with it significant challenges in the classroom, particularly in the arts and humanities. The MLA-CCCC working group on AI has suggested the need for "critical AI literacy," which asks us to help students contextualize these tools with attention to their underlying design, limitations, and possibilities. Drawing on lessons from digital humanities and electronic literature, this workshop will offer practical examples for engaging with textual, visual, and procedural generative AI tools for both creative and critical pedagogy.
Facilitator: Anastasia Salter, Benedict Distinguished Visiting Professor in Digital Arts and Humanities
Anastasia Salter is a Professor of English and Director of Graduate Programs in Texts & Technology for the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Central Florida.  Dr. Salter is the author most recently of  Critical Making in the Age of AI with Emily K.
