Camp Akeela is a co-ed overnight camp that helps campers be themselves & improve their social skills. Camps are completing grades 3-10 and are excited about a traditional camp experience that supports their social growth. Many of their campers have a diagnosis of Asperger’s or a similar ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) profile. Others may have ADD/ADHD or a social-based learning difference such as NLD. While not all campers have a diagnosis, they all share a desire to be part of a community that “gets” them and where they can meet friends with similar outlooks and experiences.

Working at a summer camp is very fun, AND it is also very professionally fulfilling, regardless of your career endeavors. Camp counselors develop vital skills employers seek from their staff candidates: resilience, collaboration, critical thinking, effective communication, and more.

Camp Akeela enhances this experience for those seeking roles in working with neurodivergent youth after graduation.

Come learn all about the professional development opportunities camp provides and a little about Akeela, too!
