Ousmane Samassekou's documentary is set in the House of Migrants in Gao, Mali, a safe haven that welcomes those coming and going from Algeria en route to Europe. Esther and Kady, two teenagers from Burkina Faso, arrive and form a friendship with 40-something Natacha. The trio find a semblance of family life, sharing moments of joy, hope and tenderness. But the girls can't shake their dream of a future abroad.
