Women in Economics (WE+) Student Internship Panel and Lunch
Women in Economics (WE+) student panelists will talk about their summer internship experiences.
PANELISTS
Allison Tran – Risk & Compliance Consulting Intern, Protiviti
Allison worked in the Financial Crime Consulting practice, focusing on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance for an international payroll client. Researched and onboarded U.S. and Canadian business entities, analyzed risk, and ensured adherence to AML laws and regulation.
Ashlyn Haigh – Knowledge Services Intern, Kirkland & Ellis LLP (Chicago)
Ashlyn assisted attorneys with research and knowledge management projects, including supporting Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) merger filings, organizing precedent libraries and transactional databases, and drafting daily internal newsletters on legal and business developments.
Joanne Chung – Research & Policy Intern, National Housing Conference
Joanne worked on a quarterly report, using housing and wage data in RStudio and GIS to generate line graphs, metro comparisons, and affordability analyses that inform policymakers and advocates nationwide.
Joyce Li – Wealth Management FADT Summer Analyst, JPMorgan Chase
Joyce worked on projects and shadowed financial advisors during client calls. Her projects included creating mock client wealth plans, contributing to an internal audit/consulting for the Advisor Service Center, and conducting a deep-dive analysis on advisors’ approaches to building trust with clients.
Julia Bartlett – Wealth Management Intern, Tortoise Investment Management
Julia's internship combined educational sessions on asset classes, portfolio construction, and behavioral finance with project experience. Julia’s role involved fund research and helping develop analytical tools for portfolio evaluation.
Lena Stole – Finance and Strategy - Treasury: Liquidity Intern, Huntington Bank
As a liquidity intern, Lena worked on internal liquidity stress testing models, building out dynamic dashboards on Tableau, and recalibrating asset monetization estimates. She also participated in an intern-wide consulting project on using machine learning for credit card fraud detection.
Mia Anzalone – Economic Development Authority Intern, City of Northfield
Mia participated in the review and selection process for awarding $750,000 in federal grant money to local businesses. Additionally, she helped support the rollout of a local business microloan program and the establishment of a Special Services District to coordinate citywide snow removal. Gathered and analyzed different types of data in Excel to support ongoing projects.
