"Delivery of bioactive nanocarriers beyond the blood-brain-barrier (BBB)"
Therapeutic delivery is a highly studied area in the realm of biomaterials. Lipid-based materials that can deliver cargo to target sites within the body have
emerged as promising candidates for this application. This talk will explore the design and development of a library of self-assembling dendrimer-lipid hybrid macromolecules. These nano-sized carriers are designed to withstand rapid dilution, have prolonged blood circulation times, and deliver both hydrophilic and hydrophobic cargo. This proof-of-concept work was translated to an active in vitro model demonstrating the ability to impact neuronal cell growth via synapse formation and axon elongation.
