Why Britain? Towards a New View of the Industrial Revolution

Wed, September 29, 2021 • 4:30pm - 5:30pm (1h) • Weitz Center for Creativity 230

The British Industrial Revolution remains one of the defining events of economic history. Although Britain’s economy had no Bastille Day, economic change accelerated over two generations by orders of magnitude, and rang in a new age, only comparable to the Neolithic revolution in its momentousness. This lecture offers its own perspective on why Britain made the leap.
