Humor Your Human: The Art of Not Taking Oneself Too Seriously

Tue, February 15, 2022 • 7:00pm - 8:30pm (1h 30m) • Weitz Black Box Theater

“Humor is that thing that ushers a person’s mind from a place of constricted consciousness to a place of expanded consciousness.”

~Rabbi Israel Baal Shem Tov (1698-1760)

A Workshop with Moshe Cohen

Moshe Cohen, performing artist and sacred mischief maker, is an internationally renowned teacher, an early pioneer of the Clowns Without Borders movement, and co-founder of the Zen Order of Disorder (OD). He has performed his Mr. YooWho widely in theaters and festival around the world (all told, in over 50 countries, and fluently speaking four languages.) Currently, he offers clown trainings to performers and tools of levity and lightfulness for the everyday and workplace environments. He teaches in clown and theater schools, spiritual and zen centers as well as with organizations of all stripes--from Google to little-known places in far-flung corners of the world.

This workshop is an opportunity to release stress, to have fun, to develop communication skills and capacity for active listening. The workshop explores humor in its subtlest form — Lightness and Lightfulness — and cultivates your capacity to embody that. It is an opportunity to let go of habitual rational mind, to let go of every day stress, and hand over the conductor’s baton to creative/intuitive mind, and develop personal Tools of Tricksterdom and Lightfulness.

The workshop’s explorations and practices draw from physical theater practices, clown improvisations, elements from butoh dance, qi gong and Feldenkreis movement.

Open to all! Not to be missed!
