Football and Track & Field

Jeff Scherer is one of the fastest, if not the fastest, male athlete ever at Carleton. He was a four-time All-American sprinter and still holds the 100 and 200-meter outdoor records. He earned the MIAC’s most valuable athlete award in 1992. Scherer was an outstanding football receiver as well, ranking in Carleton’s all-time top five with 119 career catches. He made each reception count, as one out of every five of his catches resulted in a touchdown. Scherer tallied 2,153 career receiving yards with an amazing 26 touchdowns. He holds a career yards-per-catch average of 18.1. He earned All-America honorable mention honors in 1991 with 29 catches for 704 yards and six touchdowns, including a 98-yard touchdown.
