Baseball and Football

Born in Cuyana, Minn., Walt graduated from Crosby High School in 1931. He and his Carleton classmate, Donald “Tag” Senior, comprised probably the greatest set of running backs in Carleton football history. Captain in his senior year, Petraborg was a sixty minute two-way performer. Yet, his best sport was probably baseball. Major league scouts watched his every pitching performance, and he signed a contract with the Detroit Tigers after his senior year.

After a short period in professional baseball, Petraborg returned to Carleton to coach the freshman team.
