Mary Ostergren, ’84  •  Nordic Ski, Cross Country, Track & Field

Four year Member of Carleton Nordic Ski club and member of cross country and track and field teams.

One of only two Carleton Winter Olympians, Ostergren represented the U.S. in biathlon at two consecutive Olympics.

Placed second among Americans and 25th overall in the biathlon at the 1992 games in Albertville, France.

Competed again at the 1994 games in Lillehammer, Norway.  1990 U.S. women’s champion in 7.5K biathlon event.

In 1991 had three top 20 finishes in World Cup biathlon competition.

 

Emmit Terwilliger, ’66  •  Basketball

After transferring from University of Wisconsin as a sophomore, became eligible to play basketball as a junior

In just two years, amassed 680 total points and held a 16.6 points per game average

MVP of Carleton’s 1965-66 Midwest Conference Championship squad

As a 6’3” small forward, ranks 24th on all-time career rebound list with 364 (8.7 per game)

Frank Gomez ’77  •  Basketball and Tennis

Frank Gomez excelled at basketball while at Carleton. Also a top competitor in tennis, Gomez ranked as the number one singles player on the 1974-75 team. In his freshman and sophomore years he won four overall Midwest Conference titles in singles and doubles.

A top point guard, four-year letterwinner, and co-captain of the 1976-77 basketball team, Gomez ranked at the time of his induction (in 1995) among the leading all-time scorers, with 922 total points and a 13.2 points-per-game average. He earned MVP and All-Conference honors his junior and senior years, and in 1977 he won the Matteson Memorial Basketball Award.

Following graduation from Carleton, Gomez earned his M.D. from the University of Utah.
