Rika Anderson, Assistant Professor of Biology, along with Chris Parsons ’17, Caleb Rosen ’20, and Katherine Mateos ’21, have published a paper in Geobiology entitled “Radiation of nitrogen-metabolizing enzymes tracks environmental transitions in Earth history.” In collaboration with an early Earth geochemist, they used bioinformatics methods to track the evolution of genes involved in the nitrogen cycle through the past four billion years of Earth history.
