Devavani Chatterjea talk on Mast Cells and Chronic Pain

Devavani Chatterjea, Associate Professor of Biology at Macalester College, presented a biology seminar talk on mast cells (from the German mastzellen, or “well-fed cells”), focusing on the role allergen exposures play in the underlying pathology of vulvodynia — a prevalent yet understudied chronic pain condition in women of reproductive age. Her March 31 lecture was titled “The well-fed cell chronicles: sneezes, worms, venoms & pain.
