The Biology department’s Comps is broken down into two terms. The written portion of your comps must be submitted on the last day of class of your first comps term. Your Q&A and oral presentation will take place during the second term, with the date assigned based on your schedule and the committee members’ schedules. Requests for early scheduling may be accommodated, but requests for late scheduling will not.
Q&A and talk schedules will be available during Winter Break for Fall/Winter Comps students, and during Spring Break for Winter/Spring Comps students. If the assigned comps time conflicts with a legitimate academic exercise (i.e., a class), the student should work with their comps advisor to find another meeting time that will work for both student and faculty schedules.
