Biology Seminar: Katie Sperry '17, Postdoctoral Researcher for SNAPP Future Tidal Wetlands, The Nature Conservancy, "Impacts of management on biodiversity across scales"
Mon, January 19, 2026
• 3:30pm
- 4:30pm (1h) • Olin 141
Redressing the biodiversity crisis is a focus of contemporary restoration and conservation action. While species diversity is most often targeted, protecting biodiversity at scales both smaller and larger than species is also vital. To protect biodiversity across all scales, it is necessary to understand how specific management decisions augment biodiversity. Focusing on coastal salt marsh ecosystems, my work spans genes to ecosystems. I will discuss how restoration planting decisions impact genetic diversity, and also how conservation acquisition prioritization can preserve landscape diversity under sea level rise.
