  • 2026 Summer of Science STEM Internships at Novartis, Biomedical Research at Novartis (includes salary, housing, and travel)

    13 November 2025

This internship is fully funded with salary, student dorm housing, and travel covered to/from Novartis’ Cambridge, Massachusetts, site or San Diego, California site— we recruit talented students from all over the US. Novartis’ ten-week Summer of Science Internship Program within the Biomedical Research (BR) division of Novartis provides research training opportunities for top-tier undergraduate students who have minimal exposure to industry research. This program enables students to gain both hands-on research experience and personal & professional development experiences that enhance their preparation for careers in biomedical research and application to top graduate PhD programs.  Interns will learn about BR’s approaches to patient-driven research as they work on their own research project under the supervision of a BR scientist mentor at research facilities in Cambridge, Massachusetts (research headquarters) or at a west coast site in San Diego, California. BR’s research covers many disease, science, and technology areas that allow them to closely match each intern’s specific interests with one of their labs.

  • PhD Opening in Biology Education Research in the Vance-Chalcraft Lab at East Carolina University (funded position) Outside link

    30 October 2025
The Vance-Chalcraft lab (www.vancechalcraftlab.com/) at East Carolina University is recruiting a PhD. student interested in biology education research. The ideal start date would be January 2026 but a later start date will be considered (up to August 2026).
The student will be associated with a multi-institutional study of the learning outcomes resulting from undergraduate courses incorporating participatory science (i.e., citizen science) projects. The Vance-Chalcraft lab also pursues questions such as:
    1) Does the inclusion of training in teamwork enhance student connectedness and team competencies in course-based undergraduate research experiences?
    2) How does involvement in community science enhance social capital and build capacity in communities for environmental problem solving?
Our lab uses a mix of quantitative and qualitative approaches. We are looking for a highly motivated student, curious about the world around them, and interested in maximizing the benefits of science for all people. Prior experience in biology education research is preferred but research experience in any biological field will be considered.
This doctoral student will be funded through a mix of grant and institutional funds. If you are interested, please email the following information to vancechalcrafth@ecu.edu by Nov 12.
