  • University of California San Francisco Ophthalmology Lab

    19 April 2023

A Junior or Assistant Specialist position is available in the Stewart Lab to study ocular diseases and their treatment in the Department of Ophthalmology at the UCSF School of Medicine in San Francisco. The Stewart Lab studies retinal and corneal diseases, ocular drug delivery, and proteomics in ocular biospecimens. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions and may participate in University and Public Service.

  • Research Technician at Rutgers University in Genes and Circuits underlying sleep regulation

    12 April 2023

The Stavropoulos laboratory at the Waksman Institute and Rutgers University
(https://www.stavropouloslab.org) is seeking a full-time research technician to perform
research on the mechanisms that regulate sleep. Our studies use the fruit fly
Drosophila to characterize genes and neuronal circuits underlying sleep-wake cycles.

  • Summer Undergraduate field assistant at the University of Minnesota in Ecology

    7 April 2023

The invasive species research group in the Moeller Lab studies the biogeography, ecology, and evolution of invasive plants in the Upper Midwest to try and better predict invasion risk, especially in the face of global climate change. In spring/summer 2023, we will be starting a large field experiment to test for local adaptation and pre-adaptation to climate change in the invasive plant, common tansy. We will establish planting sites at four areas across the state and in each site we will manipulate temperature (warming conditions) and precipitation (drought simulation with rain-out shelters). The experimental sites are across MN (outside Moorehead, MN; outside Duluth, MN; Southwest MN, and St. Paul Campus, UMN).

Contact Ryan Briscoe Runquist (rbriscoe@umn.edu) for questions or apply by sending a short cover letter and CV/resume.

  • Postgraduate position in RNA biology and Immunology in the Grace Chen Lab at Yale University

    7 April 2023

The Chen lab aims to generate novel therapies to treat cancer and autoimmune diseases<br>based on our basic science understanding about RNA function and regulation. We investigate the mechanisms and regulation of circular RNAs (circRNAs), a newly identified class of ubiquitous RNAs in essentially all eukaryotes and some viruses. Thus far, circRNAs have been found to function as miRNA sponges, regulate transcription, and act as templates for translation. However, there are still many unanswered questions: What other functions do circRNAs possess? How are circRNAs degraded? What are their interacting proteins? Specifically, we aim to understand how different layers of regulation including RNA modifications and cellular localization affect RNA function to enable new insights into both normal function and how dysregulation leads to disease. The Chen Laboratory applies molecular, cellular, and chemical biology techniques coupled with next-generation sequencing to address these questions.

For more information, visit gracechenlab.org. Interested applicants please send a brief statement of interest and curriculum vitae with contact information for three references to the PI Dr. Grace Chen at ye.grace.chen@yale.edu.
