Technician position in the de Graffenried lab at Brown University

12 May 2021

The de Graffenried lab at Brown University is looking to hire a technician to study microtubule-associated proteins in the parasite Trypanosoma brucei. T. brucei cells are shaped by an array of subpellicular microtubules that underlie the plasma membrane. This array contains subdomains defined by different microtubule-associated proteins, which may function to tune the local properties of the microtubules, allowing them to turn the force generated by flagellar beat into productive cell motility. The lab employs a wide range of techniques, including light and electron microscopy, biophysics, and biochemistry, to study the fundamental biology of this important human pathogen.

We are looking for applicants with an undergraduate degree in biology or related fields, with experience in molecular biology or tissue culture. Previous experience working with parasites is not necessary. People that have previously held this position have had their
own projects, published first-author papers, and had good success applying to grad/med school. Please feel free to contact Chris (Christopher_degraffenried@Brown.edu) if you have any questions about the position.
