The semester-in-residence program at Bigelow Laboratory through Colby College is for students interested in gaining an in-depth understanding of ocean science and hands-on research experience through immersion in a professional laboratory environment, including field work at sea. The program has been growing, and research diving experiences are now offered for qualified students, as well as a new omics-focused track within the program!
The program includes four ocean science laboratory courses, six one-day oceanographic cruises, and mentoring by a senior research scientist and runs 14 weeks during fall semester.
Typically juniors are accepted, but qualified sophomores and seniors are welcome in the program. Interested students should reach out by February 25.
