Harvard Forest Summer Research Program in Ecology

Applications are now open for the Harvard Forest Summer Research Program in Ecology!

Each summer, this immersive 11-week research experience hosts approximately 20 undergraduate students who live at Harvard Forest and conduct site-based research at the forefront of ecology under the mentorship of an affiliated scientist.

Next year, the program will run from May 22 – August 4, 2023. All students who are U.S. citizens or international students who are currently studying at a U.S. institution are welcome to apply. Please contact hf-srpe@fas.harvard.edu with any questions about the program. 

Harvard Forest is Harvard University’s world-class ecological research hub at the nexus of many national and international scientific networks, which Summer Program students leverage to conduct research and build their careers through:

  • Research: Work collaboratively to solve environmental problems using scientific methods.
  • Education: Bridge from student to scientist: build marketable skills, learn how to use and understand data
  • Community: Join scientists at a world-class virtual research hub to expand your network

Program Details for 2023

The 11-week program dates are May 22 to August 4, 2023

  • $6,600 stipend, plus full room & board, and travel to/from Harvard Forest
  • Applications are open 
  • Deadline is February 3rd, 2023 9am EST
