The Fort Johnson Summer Undergraduate Research Program offers a 10-week experience of independent research, science communication, and career-development activities focused on the multidisciplinary theme of Resilience and Response of Marine Organisms to Environmental Change. Participants will investigate diverse topics on the health of marine organisms using a wide variety of laboratory and field techniques.
Through mentored research projects, interns will investigate impacts of anthropogenic and natural environmental perturbations on marine organisms, at levels from molecular to ecosystem. Up to 10 interns are supported each year, with opportunities to work at one of five partner institutions located at the Fort Johnson campus.
Interns will be supplied with housing in the Grice Marine Lab dormitory, receive a stipend of $6000 for the summer, receive a travel allowance, as well as a supply budget to support the research project and other program activities.
The application and mentor descriptions are available on December 2, 2019. Applications are due February 14, 2020. For more information visit reu.cofc.edu.
