Students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of project options while engaging with the program’s three-point approach focusing on research, education, and community. The Kellogg Biological Station of Michigan State University is now accepting applications for their summer 2021 research program. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in mentored research in ecology, conservation biology, and more. The Center for Genetically-Encoded Materials is now accepting applications for their 10-week, summer 2021 research program. Projects will focus on experimental and computational work at the intersections of biology, chemistry, and materials science. Washington State University is now accepting applications for their Research in Interdisciplinary STEM Education summer program. Students will join interdisciplinary teams, with a primary focus of this summer’s research being gaining a greater understanding of inclusivity and diversity in STEM fields. Purdue University is now accepting applications for their REU in molecular and biochemical protein analysis. This 10-week program allows students the opportunity to work on mentored research projects on varying topics within the broad scope of biochemistry, and culminates in two different research presentation experiences. Overland is a summer program providing outdoors experiences for 4th-12th grade students, and they’re currently seeking college students to join their team of trip leaders for the summer of 2021. A summer with Overland is bookended by opening and closing leadership sessions that are centered around 6-weeks of co-leading trips domestically and/or internationally. NCSU is accepting applications for their summer 2021 research program focusing on biotechnology and genetic sequencing. Students in the program will spend 10 weeks doing mentored research with an emphasis on next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies.
