Biology Opportunities

Aquatic Chemical Ecology (ACE) at Georgia Tech is a summer research program supported by the National Science Foundation REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) program. ACE at Georgia Tech gives you the opportunity to perform exciting research with our faculty in the schools of Biological Sciences, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. You’ll participate in research with one or more of our faculty, learn about careers in science and engineering, and see how scientists blend knowledge and skills from physics, chemistry and biology to investigate some of the most challenging problems in environmental sciences. We encourage applications from undergraduate students who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S., especially attending universities other than Georgia Tech. The following three areas comprise the research activities covered by faculty in the Aquatic Chemical Ecology program: 

• Area 1. Biological and geochemical transformations of chemicals in aquatic ecosystems.
• Area 2. Sensory biology and ecology of aquatic chemical communication.
• Area 3. Ecological roles and consequences of chemicals in aquatic environments.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), one of Minnesota’s largest state agencies, offers a broad range of paid internships for college students. Internships are available at locations across the state.

The 2019 summer program will run from June 10 to August 16, 2019 at NASA Ames Research Center. SLSTP provides undergraduate students entering their junior or senior years with professional experience in space life science disciplines

Applications are being accepted for the 2019 Research Experience for Undergraduates program and summer field courses at MSU’s W. K. Kellogg Biological
Station. Applications for the KBS REU Program will close on March 1. Program is May 19-August 2, 2019.

The Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) at Michigan State University invites applications from undergraduate students interested in a career in bioenergy. Applications are due February 4, 2019. 

Applications are open for the 2019 Molecular Imaging Summer Program, sponsored by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.

The Summer REU Program in Marine Science at the University of Delaware is a great chance to work with faculty on research in chemical, physical, or biological oceanography, marine biology or marine geology. Application due February 8, 2019.
