The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology is offering a summer research fellowship featuring a mentored research project in Pharmacology.

Central Michigan University is seeking undergraduate students to participate in a 10-week research experience for undergraduates program at its Biological Station. Student research will focus on changes underway in the Great Lakes, one of the world’s most important and threatened freshwater ecosystems.

Application deadline is February 1, 2019.

Carleton’s Scholars program is an experiential learning opportunity for students to explore career options, make connections with alumni, and hone networking and professionalism skills. This year’s Scholars will focus on biomedical research (first-years through juniors) and law (juniors and seniors). The Carleton Summer Science Fellowship aims to broaden participation of historically underrepresented groups in sciences and math. Carleton Summer Science Fellows will have the opportunity to work in a research lab either at Carleton or at another institution for two summers.

Application deadline is in January 2019. 

Students interested in biomedically related sciences are encouraged to apply for the Summer Undergraduate Research Program. Starting the first Monday in June, students in the program will have the opportunity to obtain hands-on research experience and work with faculty to present their research at the end of the program. Sanford Research offers the SPUR program and the NSF REU Site in Cellular and Molecular Biology, which provide opportunities for undergraduate students interested in research careers to participate in laboratory research. In addition to obtaining research experience in state-of-the-art facilities, participants attend weekly career and professional development workshops, as well as build their presentation and communication skills through scientific presentations. Students benefit from the collegial and interactive research environment and enjoy the social community in Sioux Falls, a small city with an abundance of dining, shopping, sporting events, and entertainment.

Interested in an immersive summer research experience? Apply to the Molecular Imaging or Chemical Biology summer programs at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. These 10-week programs are designed to offer hands-on research experience in biomedical laboratories.

The Summer Research Program in Genomics (SRPG), funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute, is designed for underrepresented minority undergraduate students with an interest in the physical, biological, or computer sciences, engineering, or mathematics and a commitment to research. Students will spend 9 weeks of the summer in a laboratory at the Broad Institute, where they will perform original scientific research.
