19 October 2022The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Diversity Recruitment through Education and Mentoring Program “DREAM” is a 10-week summer program designed to increase the number of women and racially underrepresented groups in medical physics by offering research opportunities, outreach and strategic mentorship geared towards recruiting a more robust and diverse group of skilled undergraduate students in the field of medical physics. DREAM students will be placed into summer research and mentorship groups that are consistent with their research and career interests. DREAM fellows are selected on a competitive basis. Up to six $6,000 stipends will be awarded to selected DREAM fellows. The stipend is based upon an expectation of 40-hour per week effort for 10 weeks.

2023 Summer Undergraduate Fellowship Program with The American Association of Physicists in Medicine Outside link
19 October 2022The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Summer Undergraduate Fellowship Program is a 10-week summer program designed to provide opportunities for undergraduate university students to gain experience in medical physics by performing research in a medical physics laboratory or assisting with clinical service at a clinical facility. The term of the fellowship is May – September. The mentor and Fellow will determine the exact 10- week schedule. Each summer fellow receives a $6,000 stipend from AAPM. The stipend is based upon an expectation of 40-hour per week effort for 10 weeks.

NSF REU in Sensory Ecology at University of Cincinnati
19 October 2022Sensory Ecology is the study of how animals acquire and respond to information in their environment. This REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) will emphasize interdisciplinary training with a structured program of multi-level mentoring, introducing undergraduates to team-oriented research built around integration of sensory biology (smell, hearing, vision, etc.), behavior, ecology and evolution.

Paid Master of Science position studying the role of wildfire on aquatic species with Dr. Kellie Carim ’06
13 October 2022The University of Montana Wildlife Biology Program, in collaboration with the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute, is seeking applicants for a Master of Science position studying the role of wildfire on distributions of sensitive aquatic species in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. The student will use environmental DNA (eDNA) techniques to determine the presence of aquatic species across watersheds and combine distribution data with habitat characteristics to develop species distribution models. The anticipated start data is no later than June of 2023. The position includes an annual graduate stipend of $25,300; tuition and fees will be covered.

16 October 2020Applications for winter break research funding in math and the sciences are being accepted through October 23rd. The Kolenkow-Reitz fellowship is designed to support students engaging in up to 3 weeks of off-campus research, and it can be accessed here. For students engaging in research with Carleton faculty over break, the Towsley Research Endowment can be accessed here, and it should be completed by faculty research advisors.
