The Spearman lab at the Medical College of Wisconsin studies single ventricle congenital heart disease using a variety of techniques including cell culture, single cell RNA-seq, and Western Blots, among others. No prior research experience is required and 1:1 mentoring from Dr. Spearman makes this position an ideal opportunity for students who plan to pursue an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD. This position provides support with plant and animal related research, inventory and monitoring projects.  This includes assisting with preparing materials for fieldwork, data collection, data entry and analysis, and report writing. The person in this position will learn to identify a diverse group of plants to assist with data collection and will serve as a member of the Arboretum land management crew as needed (Approximately 20% of time).

There are five student positions available working in the Arb this summer as Restoration Technicians. Work includes eradication of invasive species, trail maintenance, ecological restoration, and seed collecting.

The Division of Medical Genetics is looking to bring on 2 strong candidates to support its genetic counseling team as Genetic Counselor Assistants.  These positions are full-time, salaried positions with benefits.  The genetic counselor assistant will be embedded in an active academic clinical division (both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities) and will be involved in patient care and translational research.

The Bandopadhayay Lab (www.bandolab.org) at DFCI (with co-affiliations with Boston Children’s Hospital and the Broad Institute) is seeking a motivated research assistant to join our efforts to find better treatments for children with brain tumors. We apply cutting-edge genomic technologies to identify drivers of childhood cancers and to determine mechanisms of resistance to current and novel treatments. Our lab is highly translational and spans efforts from acquiring patient samples to generating and analyzing high-throughput datasets from those samples through to functional genomics and mechanistic biology. To that end, the individual will engage in experiments that utilize molecular biology techniques such as cell culture methods, recombinant DNA and gene transfer technology, and other cell biology assays including the use of genetic perturbation approaches such as CRISPR and base-editing technology. There will be opportunities to learn and assist in computational methods of analysis. The individual will also assist in daily laboratory operations and organization.

The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is looking for an exceptional candidate for a Research Associate position in the Golub Lab. This position affords the exciting opportunity to be part of a research effort to define the molecular basis of hematologic malignancies and define novel therapeutic strategies for these difficult to treat cancers.

The NDSU CHANGE program provides mentored research experiences to recent college graduates. Participants in the CHANGE network join a cohort of trainees in a robust training environment that provides professional development and mentorship from a diverse network of biologists from Universities, federal government, industry, and nonprofits.
