21 May 2025The Research Assistant II position reports to William (Ned) Friedman, Director of the Arnold Arboretum and Arnold Professor of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology (70% of the time) and to Faye Rosin, Director of Research Facilitation (30% of the time). The Friedman lab covers a broad range of projects (e.g., origin and evolution of flowering plants, plant evo-devo, plant fertilization biology, and embryology) and methods (histology and various types of microscopy, molecular biology, greenhouse studies). Please note: This is a two-year term appointment, with an end date two years from the date of hire.

The Lipinski lab’s research is dedicated to understanding how genetic and environmental influences interact in causing common human birth defects, like clefts of the lip and palate. We are recruiting a research intern to our ongoing investigation into the role of DNA methylation in orofacial clefting. Following training the team member will be responsible for conducting animal experiments, tissue dissection and imaging, modified CRISPR/cas9, qPCR, DNA and RNA extraction, and methylome transcriptome data analyses. The successful candidate will also engage our research team and campus collaborators to plan experiments, analyze and interpret data, and prepare research manuscripts.

The Spearman lab at the Medical College of Wisconsin studies single ventricle congenital heart disease using a variety of techniques including cell culture, single cell RNA-seq, and Western Blots, among others. No prior research experience is required and 1:1 mentoring from Dr. Spearman makes this position an ideal opportunity for students who plan to pursue an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD. 11 February 2025This position provides support with plant and animal related research, inventory and monitoring projects. This includes assisting with preparing materials for fieldwork, data collection, data entry and analysis, and report writing. The person in this position will learn to identify a diverse group of plants to assist with data collection and will serve as a member of the Arboretum land management crew as needed (Approximately 20% of time).

Paid Research Technician Opening at the Dana Farber Institute’s Bandopadhayay Lab Outside link
24 January 2025The Bandopadhayay Lab (www.bandolab.org) at DFCI (with co-affiliations with Boston Children’s Hospital and the Broad Institute) is seeking a motivated research assistant to join our efforts to find better treatments for children with brain tumors. We apply cutting-edge genomic technologies to identify drivers of childhood cancers and to determine mechanisms of resistance to current and novel treatments. Our lab is highly translational and spans efforts from acquiring patient samples to generating and analyzing high-throughput datasets from those samples through to functional genomics and mechanistic biology. To that end, the individual will engage in experiments that utilize molecular biology techniques such as cell culture methods, recombinant DNA and gene transfer technology, and other cell biology assays including the use of genetic perturbation approaches such as CRISPR and base-editing technology. There will be opportunities to learn and assist in computational methods of analysis. The individual will also assist in daily laboratory operations and organization.
