The Summer Training in Academic Research and Scholarship is a unique summer research opportunity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) for underrepresented minority students with a strong interest in pursuing advanced graduate and medical education and training. During the 8 weeks of the program, students engage in basic science or translational research projects under the supervision of Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s and Harvard Medical School’s top researchers. Students are assigned a faculty mentor who will work closely with the student to ensure completion of a project over the 8-week summer period. Students submit an abstract of their summer research and share their research findings during a final research presentation day.
In addition to the 8 week research experience, BWH STARS Program also includes:
- Clinical shadowing experiences with BWH faculty
