Dear Bev:
Having taught you as a student, then having team-taught with you the American Studies introductory course on Immigration, and finally having served as a Department Chair under your watchful eye as the Dean of the College, I I must tell you how greatly I have admired how you have blossomed and grown in each stage of your long career at Carleton. What stands out to me is your calm approach to problems, your willingness to listen to opposing points of view, and your thoughtful and tactful handling of a wide variety of campus issues. And I was always astounded by how well you survived that great test for all Deans of the College: accurately pronouncing the names of all seniors during the graduation ceremony! May you enjoy a long, fruitful, and peaceful retirement,
