Yair Dalal is a Grammy-nominated (while playing with Jordi Salvi’s ensemble- Hesperien XXI) Israeli Musician who grew up in Iraq. He trained with Iraqi-Israeli musicians and is considered one of the most talented violinist and oud players in the Iraqi and Jewish style. He is joined by Dror Sinai, a California-based percussionist, musician, and educator, who conducts workshops throughout the U.S.The pair has been here for four-days, joining a few classes- such as Middle Eastern music, and conducted workshops with the Carleton Middle Eastern Music Ensemble. This performance will feature Middle Eastern music, specifically Iraqi-Israeli music, and Dalal’s compositions. This performance will be tonight, at 7 PM in Kracum Performance Hall in in the Weitz Music Center. Both musicians will be joined by by Prof. Yaron Klein on the Oud, Gao Hong on the Pipa, and Carleton’s new Middle Eastern Music Ensemble.
